Dutch polar explorer and sustainability pioneer Marc Cornelissen (46 years old) lost his life on an expedition in the Arctic on April 29, 2015 due to thin ice brought about by climate change. He was joined on this tragic journey by colleague and friend Philip de Roo (30 years old), who also perished.
