Today is World Elephant Day. Much like the tragic death of Cecil the lion in Africa, the plight of the elephant, who are valued for their ivory tusks, revolves around a much bigger and more complex issue. Certainly, the horrific slaughter of the majestic elephant is disturbing in its own right, but Terry Gross of FreshAir had a really incredible interview with investigative journalist Bryan Christy earlier today upon the publication in National Geographic of his reporting on the ivory trade.
