I am not religious. Although I was raised in a very Catholic family, I’m an atheist. I often find myself instinctively flinching when I hear people speaking about their god, their faith, and their religious beliefs. Having said that, I also try to work against my own biases, so I listen to radio shows, read right-wing publications, and try to go to where people “are” to better understand the world from their perspective. This morning, I was listening to a radio show called, “On Being,” and I heard an interview with a Jesuit priest, Father Greg Boyle, who created “Homeboy Industries” in Los Angeles.
This interview is really interesting and Father Boyle is a truly inspirational person, with a lot of excellent observations on compassion, hardship, and relating to one another. Here is the podcast of his interview:
