Charles Darwin was born on February 12,1809 in Shrewsbury, United Kingdom. He is considered the “father of evolution,” for his publication of the book, “On the Origin of Species,” which you can apparently buy on eBay (first edition) for around $95,000, plus shipping and handling, of course.

Little known fact: he actually almost missed the boat (or, ship) to the Galapagos Islands where he first discovered evidence for evolution!
