It is now 3 minutes to midnight according to the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists. Their “doomsday clock” is something that I have watched out of the corner of my eye since I was in high school. When politicians scoff at the idea that we are heating our climate up to the point of not being habitable, they should be deemed too stupid to hold any position of authority. Either that, or they are pathologic liars. Either way, they must be tossed out of office. And when they puff out their chests and snort that they “are not scientists,” thus doubling down on their own admitted ignorance, again, they are proving that they are unfit to lead. And considering how much information is at their disposal, and the attempts to simplify even the most complicated aspects of the science down to the level of understanding for your average 5th grade child, I believe that these policymakers have proven that they are criminally negligent. And should be prosecuted as such.

The condemnation and anger felt by these scientists is palpable. This is about as animated as you will see scientists get, since they are normally a pretty even-tempered bunch. But they are FURIOUS. You should be, too.
