By mixing visualizations of Earth from NASA with ethereal music, Bella Gaia is attempting to raise awareness of plastic pollution in the oceans as well as overfishing. Director and composer Kenji Williams says he founded Bella Gaia after International Space Station astronaut Mike Fincke told him what a transformative experience it was to see Earth from orbit. Bella Gaia tries to convey this feeling by showing NASA visualizations.
In this video, the images include global ocean currents and temperature changes over time, satellite imagery of the Amazon rainforest and cloud patterns and at the end of the video, the group calls for reducing plastic waste and halting fishing of endangered species.
